The students at the Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg are hosting their annual fashion show to benefit a local charity. The show’s title for 2017 is A.R.T (Ascend, Rise, Transcend) which is meant to reflect the current socio-political climate as well as this generations reinvention and progression in fashion.
As part of its fashion curriculum, students participate in a Event Production course, led by Jennifer Lezan, where the students take full reign of putting the production together from beginning to end. Much work and thoughtfulness goes into the event theme, decor, model management, choosing a community impacted charity, public relations and contacting vendors. This allows them to have the hands on experience that is required of them once they step into the industry. The fashion students at AI also collaborate with other departments within the school to also give this experience in cross-collaboration to make the show the professional display that comes to fruition.
This year’s show promises to bring entertainment, raffles, sips & treats for your enjoyment as well as student made designs and artwork. Tickets are still available for this week’s show: $25 for General Admission, $65 for VIP, and $15 for students with a valid ID. There will be early access at 7pm for VIP guests to enjoy sips and treats. Doors will open at 7:30pm for the general public and the show begins at 8pm.
